Research Interests

Chemical trace element analysis is a many-faceted and important issue. The ongoing progress of science has shown that it is important for analytical scientists to determine not only the presence of particular elements but also their species (such as different chemical forms and metal-based nanoparticles). There are many fields where this is applicable and where there are a number of topics to be addressed. In the past decade, the understanding of the impact of various species of trace elements on biological and environmental systems has been remarkably advanced, due mainly to the significant improvement in the analytical techniques. Apart from the problems associated with the extremely low concentrations of desired elements and their species in biological and environmental systems, attaining satisfactory degrees of trace analytical task requires the development of more compact and rapid analytical methodologies and spurs on research into hyphenated analytical techniques. To overcome the challenges described above, the development and initiation of novel and highly sensitive hyphenation techniques for trace determination/element speciation in key areas of chemical analysis are the main tasks in our lab.
